Northanger Abbey - Novel Design

This assignment introduced us to the fundamentals of typography focusing on the control of type. We had to consider the messages sent and received through formal qualities of type. Using a text-heavy publication, we had to consider the formal qualities - type style, size, line length, leading, word and letter spacing etc. I focused on the main character of the novel and how she was perceived throughout the book. There was a strong emphasis on​ what people thought of her and how she really was - this was the reason for the two colours of the front cover.
